Jens Dunkel

Jens Dunkel has been Head of Purchasing at Karstadt Sports since March of 2020. In the meantime, he was CEO of the company since 2019. Prior to that, he was Head of Purchasing at Karstadt Sports since October of 2017. As an experienced retail manager, he can look back on many years of experience in Germany’s retail sector. After holding various management positions at Aldi Nord, he initially joined the Penny management team. As Director of Purchasing and Category Management, he was largely responsible for the restructuring process and the cooperation between coop eG and the Rewe Group in recent years.

Thomas Wanke

Thomas Wanke

Thomas Wanke has been CEO of SportScheck and Karstadt Sports since March of 2020. Before that, he was Chief Sales Officer of GALERIA Karstadt Kaufhof since July of 2019, and before that, he had was CEO of Karstadt Sports since October of 2017. From mid-2013 until September of 2017, he was Head of Sales of Karstadt Warenhaus. He has extensive knowledge of the fashion market from his positions at P&C, Adler Modemärkte and Charles Vögele, as well as experience in the home textiles sector. His clear focus was always on the further development of the sales department, especially on increasing sales and service orientation and employee motivation.

Stefan Weiß

Stefan Weiß

Stefan Weiß has been the Chief Sales Officer of Karstadt Sports since July of 2019. In this function, he is responsible for all of the company’s sales activities as part of the management team, including visual merchandising and sales control. Before he moved to SportScheck in 2009, where he led the Cologne branch and later became the deputy head of the brick-and-mortar sales area, he had already worked for Karstadt Sports and Karstadt Warenhaus. He has been back at Karstadt Sports since 2017, where he is responsible for the stores in Cologne and Essen as well as the so-called ‘Verbund West’ (Group West) with a total of six stores.

Christian Marzinzik

Christian Marzinzik

Christian Marzinzik has been CFO of Karstadt Sports since August of 2017. After focusing on the Accounting and Market & Sales areas during his university studies and subsequently working as a research assistant at Ruhr University in Bochum, he joined Karstadt Warenhaus in 1998. He then worked at Itellium Systems & Services GmbH as department manager for scheduling systems and reporting for one year before returning to Karstadt Warenhaus in 2001, where he then held various positions within the company. Most recently, he held the position of Head of Controlling until August of 2017. From October of 2009, he was simultaneously employed as the CFO of Le Buffet, a 100% subsidiary of Karstadt Warenhaus.

The main assets of Karstadt Sports are its brands, its clear product range with the main team sports, running/hiking and outdoor product groups, the high level of brand confidence among consumers, an excellent portfolio of prime locations, outstanding customer knowledge and an excellent management team. In addition to brick-and-mortar retail, e-commerce also plays a significant role at Karstadt Sports.
