The building was renovated and redesigned in accordance with the stipulations of a preservation order. SIGNA’s conversion of the neighbouring property at 9 Kärntner Straße delivered another lasting improvement of the location. These two properties and the new Peek & Cloppenburg building in the immediate vicinity have further enhanced the value of the entire Kärntner Straße – after this area’s pedestrian zone had already been redesigned in 2009.
In the spring of 2018, Austria’s first official Apple flagship store opened its doors at 11 Kärntner Straße. Aside from selling Apple products – from computers and tablets to smartwatches – the store also offers daily training sessions and workshops. When it opened the new store in Vienna’s 1st district was the 112th branch of the electronics company in Europe and the 501st worldwide.
